QUALITY STARTS WITH LEATHER


The type of leather used in the production of L & J Leathers saddlebags is crucial to their quality. In our saddlebags, we use heavy-duty, oil tanned drum dyed leather and also heavy rigid finished leather.

Making our products with heavy leather results in a sturdy bag that can stand up to the abuses of long- distance travel and years of wear. Our oil-tanned, drum dyed leather is water-resistant and has an appealing soft texture and flexibility.

Drum-dying is a process where the dye penetrates all the way through the leather. This avoids the white scratches and bleeding of dye common in cheaper leathers.

Our leather goods are not imitations - they look good, they fit properly and they are long lasting. All of our products are designed and produced in our factory in Revere, MA USA.

  • WE USE A SPECIAL LATEX ADHESIVE SEALANT TO ASSEMBLE PARTS AND TO CREATE AN EFFECTIVE BARRIER TO MOISTURE.


  • TO ACHIEVE MAXIMUM STRENGTH WE DOUBLE-STITCH SEAMS WITH THE HEAVIEST NYLON THREAD POSSIBLE.


  • WE MAKE MANY OF OUR COVER FLAPS FOR OUR SADDLEBAGS WITH DOUBLE LAYERS OF LEATHER SO THEY RETAIN THEIR SHAPE.


  • WE PROVIDE SADDLEBAGS WITH EXTRA LONG STRAPS TO ALLOW THE COVER TO ACCOMODATE LARGE LOADS.


  • WE MAKE THE SIDE PANELS OF OUR SADDLEBAGS WITH TWO LAYERS OF RIGID LEATHER OR PLASTIC SO THEY WON'T COLLAPSE DUE TO TIME AND HEAVY USAGE.


  • STRONG, MULTIPLE LAYERS OF LEATHER MAKE UP THE ADJUSTABLE OVER-THE-FENDER MOUNTING STRAPS


  • ALL OF OUR SADDLEBAGS ARE FITTED WITH A DURABLE, HEAT-RESISTANT BACKING THAT IS RIGID ENOUGH TO SUPPORT THE SHAPE 0F THE SADDLEBAGS, YET FLEXIBLE ENOUGH TO ALLOW THE BAGS TO EXPAND.


  • MOST OF OUR BAGS HAVE WATERPROOF "RAINGAURDS" TO PROTECT YOUR BELONGINGS FROM RAIN AND ROAD GRIME.


  • WE INCORPORATE PLASTICS IN MANY OF OUR SADDLEBAGS FOR RIDERS THAT PREFER A RIGID LUGGAGE LIKE LOOK.
